53 HZ OF BLUE(S)
video, color, sound, 40min
“53 Hz of Blue(s)” is an audio-visual spectral composition that brings together audio and RGB video signals. It explores and challenges the inherent properties of the video medium, as a perception tool.
The audio composition is based on the frequency range that equals the wavelengths of the fundamental blue color: 53 Hz (440 Hz - 493 Hz). The audio signal is then translated in subtitle shades, patterns and flickering images of blue.
It was made technically possible by creating our own video analog synthesizer that deals with VGA.
